Tips on your first year in HIGH SCHOOL

Ahh, the first day in high school, no more mommy and daddy dropping you off and giving you a kiss good luck, no more small bag of yum yums to munch on. Yes, it may sound nerve racking at first but believe it or not high school will be a great experience! For the up coming freshmen of 2009 here are some tips on surviving your first year in high school.

Everything will change, classes may seem harder but all you have to do is pay attention! Do not make it a habbit to talk in class, its always good to listen and take down notes. Keep in mind your freshmen year is the most important year in high school. First impressions is a major issue in high school so you want to let your teachers know that you'll be a great student. Being friends with teachers is a good thing and NO! do not think being friends with them will get you an A!

I always thought my best friends from my middle school years and I would stick together, but sometimes not all close friend relationships last long. You will get to know new people which is a good thing but then slowly you and your old friends will split into different groups. Its always good to mingle with other people. You will make more friends than you ever thought you'd make in over a year, which will make it even harder to say good bye when the year is all over. Always keep in touch with your old friends but remember its always better to make new ones.

High school isnt a play ground anymore, it is a next big step to the real world. You will face one of those times where we were thought to say no. Your new friends might offer you, but always remember to say no! If you think thats the only way to look cool or to make new friends, well it isnt. Try not fall for any tricks, havent you notice that most teenagers are getting pregnant at young ages? Think of all the problems they have to face now and the regrets.I'm sure its hard enough they have to face school work and worrying about baby issues and at the same time worry about people talking behind their backs. Yes, it will be hard to say no but may be doing this will help, all you have to do is just stop, take a deep breathe, and think of what cosequences you'll face if you do. Doing drugs is never the way!

Get ACTIVE! Its always good to join school clubs and run for president or school representative of your freshmen class. It will help in the future when finding a job or something. You can get school scholarships and everything that will get you started for the future. While doing all this activities I could honestly say it will be FUN! You'll be so proud when you do something great for your class, you'll be surprised of how much you know about being a leader, and the best part about it you'll make more friends! You will get notice which is a good thing because you're getting notice for all the good thing you're doing for your class. Imagine that sensational feeling that you get when you win something that makes you want to jump up and scream, you will get the chance to feel this like I did when I won for freshmen Historian. I honestly thought that I had no chance of winning against my opponents but surprisely I won. If though you do run and you didnt get the part, always put your head up high and remember that it's always better to try than not try at all.

Life in high school is very different from your years in middle school and elementary, you're a big kid now! There will be more responsibilities, most of which you will find difficult to keep up on, but always stay in the right lane. Try not to slack off, freshmen year has been a blast for me. Ive learned so much in the past 9 months, hopefully the experience I had, you will have it too.
