Why can't they just understand?

Everyone always said the teenage life is probably the most scariest time for a parent. When you born the first thing your parents thought was wow! I have a beautiful baby, they start thinking of all the good things and tend to forget the bad. While growing up I'm sure all of your parents thought that if they raised you in a good way, you'll be a very wise and independent adult. NOT! Haven't you notice that most of the well discipline children are probably the most naughtiest? I have, most of my friends may look like they never try this or never try that but they have.

The sad part about every teenager's life is the fact that most of thier parents don't trust them. Yes, the world is more dangerous than it was before, but that's life. You need to take risk, am not saying to let them out and let them do what they want, but if they ask you something and they tell you to trust them and let them do what they have to do I guarantee they will come back home safe and sound. Trust is probably the most important factor between a parent and their child, without trust thier wouldn't be that lovable fund a parent usually has.

Cut down on saying no to your child, I'm sure the only reason why you say no is because you been there and done that, but you have to let us do in order to learn from our mistakes. If you give your child your trust I'm sure if they were doing something you tried doing in the past they'll make sure they will not do it the same. Let us enjoy life while we still can, you never know what can happen in the next minute, hour,or day. We are young and full of life, free spirited, all a teenager wants is the support and trust from thier parents.

We are getting older, we are not your little princess anymore. You need to let us go and experience life. So that we are reday for the real world. In order for us to be strong we need to learn from our mistakes. Life is hard and it's only getting harder. In a teenagers life we have school, work, chores, it gets pretty stressful at times, so give us a break and let us have fun. It can be scary to say yes, but you need to trust us.

Teenagers don't take advantage of your parents. Most of the time the only reason why they say no is because they are thinking of you. Always keep in mind they care for you, yes they have a weird way of showing it but sorry to say, they know what they are doing. Talk to them and make them understand where you come from, and parents it's sometimes ok to bring up the past. Communication is probably another important factor in every teenager and parent life. Talk to one another and understand where you as a teenager and you as a parent is coming from.

Don't you just hate blackouts?

Power outages, ugh!Just thinking about it makes me angry. Having power outages means, no television, no aircon, no computer, and no light. I'm sure all of us experienced a time where it just became pitch black. Now a days most of us rely on electricty, imagine a world without it. "TOTAL CHAOS!" Blackouts can occur any time, even if you pay your electricity bill monthly it will happen. Sometimes an accident would occur like the the power pole falling down or we just don't have enough money for fuel. I hate power outages and I'm sure you hate it to.

Saipan has had so many power outages till today. As citizens on the island of Saipan, my family and I have tried experiencing a time of darkness. I remembered a time when there was no power for about two weeks, that was about two years ago. That outage was long enough to make me think the power was going to be off forever. It wasn't that bad I admitt, yes you can survive, but it wasn't the most pleasant either. It was hot most of the time and we were considered lucky when it rains so we can get water.

The first week without power was the worst week ever! I remembered having to sit outside all the time to feel the fresh breeze so I can cool off, and times where the heat would get to me and I would get so mad because it's hot and sometimes there wouldn't be any wind at all.Having no power also means no movie theaters and no Saturday bowling. I love watching movies, my weekend plans are usually t go to the movies with my friends and go bowling with the family on Saturdays. A lot of the major fun things I do need electricity,so having power outages makes me unable to do what I love to do. My weekends suck without power, my week days seem longer which was the most boring time of my life!If you went through what I experienced you would feel the same I felt.

There will be more power outages to come so it's better to get ready for it now. What you want to do is get a generator. If you can't afford it, well try and save up for one. Having to save up for one will be worth it at the end, think of it do you want to go another sleepness night because no aircon, do you want to spend another boring hot day, or do you want to stay cool and watch tv with the family? The choice is yours, my family and I choose to stay cool and watch television. So get your candles ready and start saving, because I'm sure none of us want to go through another blackout again!

Tips on your first year in HIGH SCHOOL

Ahh, the first day in high school, no more mommy and daddy dropping you off and giving you a kiss good luck, no more small bag of yum yums to munch on. Yes, it may sound nerve racking at first but believe it or not high school will be a great experience! For the up coming freshmen of 2009 here are some tips on surviving your first year in high school.

Everything will change, classes may seem harder but all you have to do is pay attention! Do not make it a habbit to talk in class, its always good to listen and take down notes. Keep in mind your freshmen year is the most important year in high school. First impressions is a major issue in high school so you want to let your teachers know that you'll be a great student. Being friends with teachers is a good thing and NO! do not think being friends with them will get you an A!

I always thought my best friends from my middle school years and I would stick together, but sometimes not all close friend relationships last long. You will get to know new people which is a good thing but then slowly you and your old friends will split into different groups. Its always good to mingle with other people. You will make more friends than you ever thought you'd make in over a year, which will make it even harder to say good bye when the year is all over. Always keep in touch with your old friends but remember its always better to make new ones.

High school isnt a play ground anymore, it is a next big step to the real world. You will face one of those times where we were thought to say no. Your new friends might offer you, but always remember to say no! If you think thats the only way to look cool or to make new friends, well it isnt. Try not fall for any tricks, havent you notice that most teenagers are getting pregnant at young ages? Think of all the problems they have to face now and the regrets.I'm sure its hard enough they have to face school work and worrying about baby issues and at the same time worry about people talking behind their backs. Yes, it will be hard to say no but may be doing this will help, all you have to do is just stop, take a deep breathe, and think of what cosequences you'll face if you do. Doing drugs is never the way!

Get ACTIVE! Its always good to join school clubs and run for president or school representative of your freshmen class. It will help in the future when finding a job or something. You can get school scholarships and everything that will get you started for the future. While doing all this activities I could honestly say it will be FUN! You'll be so proud when you do something great for your class, you'll be surprised of how much you know about being a leader, and the best part about it you'll make more friends! You will get notice which is a good thing because you're getting notice for all the good thing you're doing for your class. Imagine that sensational feeling that you get when you win something that makes you want to jump up and scream, you will get the chance to feel this like I did when I won for freshmen Historian. I honestly thought that I had no chance of winning against my opponents but surprisely I won. If though you do run and you didnt get the part, always put your head up high and remember that it's always better to try than not try at all.

Life in high school is very different from your years in middle school and elementary, you're a big kid now! There will be more responsibilities, most of which you will find difficult to keep up on, but always stay in the right lane. Try not to slack off, freshmen year has been a blast for me. Ive learned so much in the past 9 months, hopefully the experience I had, you will have it too.

To be or not to be?

My teacher assigned a group of students in my class a group project and I happened to be one of them. As soon as he passed us the assignment I scanned through the pages and I was shocked to see that I didn't know the answers to almost all of the 50 questions that were being asked. Many of the questions being asked in the assignment had me wondering weather or not what I read in our news today about the world is TRUE or FALSE?

For example, did you know that there is an idea that Shakespeare, famous poet/play writer, might not be the famous poet writer that you thought he was? I didn't. This happened to be one of the questions that caught my attention. What I found out was that he wasn't the one writing his poetry and plays. He took the credit of someone else's work. This could probably be true but there is no documentation or proof of any kind to know if whether or not he wrote what they say he wrote. This questions my authority to be a fan of his or a hater to his so- called work.

There was many topics besides this one that was interesting but the reason for me explaining this specific topic was because it still amazes me to find out about the most famous poet that I know. You would be shocked to find information like this.

By doing this project it gave me a great opportunity to learn more about our world than what I already knew. I could honestly say yes it was overwhelming with all the research and reading but in the end it was worth it. I learned more than I've learned throughtout my whole first year in high school by donig this one project.
